General Information/FAQ
introduction
hello y’all!
my name is Oberon Rattus, or
@o.rattus on instagram
i use he/him pronouns
i am a tattooer at
my little needle tattoos in plymouth, mi
xList
i am in the shop
monday, tuesday, friday, and saturday!
general booking information
i charge $180 an hour, or for one off or up for grabs pieces, a set minimum flat rate.
to book with me, you must
fill out the form here.
- you must be 18+ to book with me.
- i do not correspond via dm.
- i do not respond on my days off.
unless it is for an up for grabs piece, or flash piece, you will not receive a response until my books are
open.
once i have a clear idea of what you would like, we will coordinate a good day and time for your appointment. then,
your appointment will be secured by a deposit.
deposit + no show policy
deposits serve two functions:
- they hold your time and day
- they are a contract that i will draw your tattoo,
and
that
you will show up to your appointment.
DEPOSITS ARE FULLY NON REFUNDABLE.
you will lose your deposit if:
- you do not give me 48 hours heads up you are cancelling, save legitimate emergencies.
- you are running 15 minutes behind, and do not let me know. if you are running significantly behind, we may
have
to
reschedule, regardless if you walk in the door or not.
- you do not show up to your appointment.
NO CALL NO SHOW POLICY:
on top of your deposit being forfeited, your design will be put up for grabs. this means you will no longer be
permitted
to have that tattoo on your body, and it goes to the general masses in hopes it goes to a more considerate,
respectful
home. you will also be blacklisted from working with me.
otherwise, deposits come off when the
FINAL SESSION of a tattoo is complete. for large, ongoing projects,
this will
be a
pleasant surprise at the end!
what to expect at your appointment
at my little needle tattoos, and within my booth, the team and i aim to make your experience as comfortable and
contented as possible! i am a trauma informed tattooer. i strive to create a safe, comfortable environment for
you to receive a tattoo
in. i do not take the responsibility and trust that you, as a client, put into me to usher your through an
experience that
permanently alters and harms your body lightly. i respect your body autonomy and consent through the entirety of
the
tattoo process, and make sure to check in at many points before, during, and after the procedure.
you do not have to show up more than ten minutes early to your scheduled appointment time! you should come in
wearing comfortable clothing, bringing along any comfort items you may need. this can be headphones, a book, or
even a
pillow or stuffed animal that you like! i also encourage a sugary drink, or even a little snack.
you may bring ONE support person to the shop with you!
if you are unsure of what clothing is best to wear to your appointment, please ask! i provide pasties if needed,
and
will screen off the booth if needed.
when you come into the shop, you will be asked for your ID. this is state law. i do not care about the
information
on
said ID aside from your birthdate. i personally understand that the ID is not comfortable for everyone. once
this is
settled, you will be handed a release form to fill out.
once this form is filled out, i will bring you back to my booth! we sit down, and take a look at your artwork. i
will
have the piece at the preferred size printed off, or sometimes multiples.
at this point, if there are ANY
changes to
be
made to the piece, i will make them. if the changes will take me awhile to do, we may reschedule you.
you
will
NOT
lose
your deposit in this case. if we agree on the piece and sizing, i will run a stencil!
i will prep the skin by shaving the area, and cleaning the area with a hospital grade cleanser. we will apply
the
stencil. if you do NOT like where it is, i will happily move it!
once the stencil is settled, we will begin the tattoo. my goal of any tattoo is to get through the linework, as
we
will
not have to re-stencil the piece. if at any point you need a break, are not feeling well, or decide you are
finished
getting tattooed after linework, TELL ME! i will swiftly accommodate your needs.
during the tattoo, we may chat as little or as much as you would like. if you would like a silent appointment,
you
may
mark that in the margin, somewhere on your release form, or email me in advance. i will limit communication to
what
is
strictly necessary.
once the procedure is done, with your consent, i will take a photo of the piece we made, and then we will
discuss
aftercare instructions. i will answer any and all questions for you, and give you contact information for any
questions
that may arise.
you then have time to collect your things, use the restroom, or take a breather before we head up to the front
for
checkout together.
in my booth, i am the tattooer, but you are the one in control. please remember that this is YOUR experience,
and
that i
am just along for the ride, trying to make it the best we can!
what i will and will not tattoo
i work in a distinctive illustrative style, and put focus on blackwork. if you are not familiar with my work, please
check out my instagram to see what i make!
things i will tattoo include:
- general flora. plants that can be foraged for either food or medicinal purposes are some of my favorites!
- general fauna. i love all sorts of creatures, especially some of our less common friends!
- mythological beasts. if you want me to slam a snake head on a wolf’s body that has six wings, let’s rock
and
roll!
or,
if you have one from a favorite story, myth, or other iconography, we can make it happen!
- humanoid figures
- video game things, especially games created by fromsoftware (like bloodborne and elden ring)
- frankly, anything that i have full creative input with. i appreciate the trust!
things i will not tattoo include:
- the names of living people
- hateful imagery
- culturally inappropriate imagery (ex: dreamcatchers, war bonnets, unalomes, sugar skulls, g*psy anything,
etc…
please
do your research. it is not my job to educate you)
- wedding band tattoos
i reserve full rights to set boundaries with what work i make. there is an artist out there for everyone, but i will
not
be the artist to tattoo any of the mentioned things, or anything else i do not feel confident or comfortable doing.
tipping
first and foremost, tips are NOT a requirement, but are ALWAYS welcome and accepted!
a monetary tip is well appreciated, either in cash or on card, however, i also like and will
accept the
following
things!
- oddities. i will accept ETHICALLY SOURCED:
animal bones, skulls, wet specimens, taxidermy mounts,
shadowboxes, etc…
please NO human remains (replicas are fine!)
- cannabis items, with an emphasis on pre rolls or flower!
indica or hybrids are fine, no sativa, no
dabs. i
will
have a
panic attack and perish.
- a weird little guy you found in a thrift shop, on the street, or in the woods. whatever this means to
you,
that’s
what
it means to you.
- handmade art! i have quite a few pieces in my booth that were tips from other clients.
- a good plant
- whatever you see and think “hey! i think oberon would like this”
i am a small or extra small in shirts and sweaters!
if you’re unsure about something, you can always ask me as well! if it’s thoughtful, more than likely i
am
over the
moon
about it anyway.
